The following are profiles of some current Yad Ezra clients:
- A 49 year-old woman with five children. Her husband has had a series of injuries leaving him incapable of working. She is the breadwinner in the family she works at Wal-mart.
- A 50-year-old woman who is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor. She has two sons still at home and an older married daughter with six children. The daughter's husband recently left the marriage. The daughter and her six children moved in with the mother and the two sons because she couldn't support her family.
- A 53-year-old married mother with a head injury. The husband took the son and left the marriage. The daughter is with the mother. The mother can't work and receives some disability insurance.
- A father and 21 year-old son were clients of Yad Ezra. The son impregnated a young woman and then refused to have anything to do with her. She and her baby girl have become a client family of Yad Ezra.
- An 80-year-old woman who helped augment her small income by cooking and taking care of errands for neighbors. In recent years, she has had a number of injuries which have severely reduced her additional income.
- An 84-year-old woman who has been a client since 1991. She has become the 'mother hen' to newer clients, helping them adjust to life in the US. She lives in subsidized housing, receives food stamps and under $7,000 in income (SSI) annually.
- Twins, 45 years old, born with birth defects, living independently and receiving under $8,000 in SSD annually. Their sister helps care for them.
- A widowed Russian journalist who moved here in 1994. Even though he is fluent in five languages, he was never able to find work here and has been managing with SSI benefits.
- A couple of Holocaust survivors who have suffered from serious health problems since they came to this area.
- A 24-year-old man from the Ukraine who is supporting his parents.
- A former solo violinist with the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra who moved here with his wife, a pianist in the early 90's. Professional opportunities did not come to fruition and music lessons didn't provide enough of an income to live on.
- A husband and father of a 5 year old who was recently laid off from his job. He was able to find a part time job to help make ends meet.
- An elderly man who chose to live downtown near his sick brother so that he could take care of him.
- A 70 -year-old man raising two disabled children and two grandchildren from absent parents, earning $1,100 monthly.
